    RESPONSE TO SGX’S QUERY REGARDING TRADING ACTIVITY


    Yeo Hiap Seng Limited (the "Company") refers to the queries from the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited (“SGX-ST”) received on 10 October 2012 regarding a substantial increase in the price of the Company’s shares. The following are the Company’s responses to the queries:-


    Question 1: Are you aware of any information not previously announced concerning you (the issuer), your subsidiaries or associated companies which, if known, might explain the trading?
    - If yes, the information must be announced immediately.

    Answer: The Company is not aware of any information not previously announced concerning the Company, its subsidiaries or associated companies which might explain the substantial increase in the price of the Company’s shares on 10 October 2012. The Company receives approaches for strategic alliances, including unsolicited offers, from time to time and evaluates investment opportunities and various projects. At the present time, the Company is not engaged in any initiatives which might necessitate an announcement.


    Question 2: Are you aware of any other possible explanation for the trading?

    Answer: The Company is not aware of any other possible explanation for the substantial increase in the price of the Company’s shares.


    Question 3: Can you confirm your compliance with the listing rules and, in particular, listing rule 703?

    Answer: The Company confirms that it is in compliance with the listing rules of the SGX-ST and, in particular, Listing Rule 703.
