    Description
    The Board of Directors (the "Board") of Surface Mount Technology (Holdings) Limited (the "Company") refers to the announcement dated 2 July 2013 (the "Announcement") stating that approximately 6.31 per cent. of the total number of issued shares in the Company (the "Shares") listed on the Main Board of the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited (the "SGX-ST") is held in public hands.

    Under Rule 723 of the Listing Manual of the SGX-ST, an issuer must ensure that at least 10 per cent. of the total number of issued shares excluding treasury shares (excluding preference shares and convertible equity securities) in a class that is listed is at all times held by the public (the "Free Float").

    The Company intends to appoint a placement agent in Singapore to assist the Company with identifying potential third-party placees and placing new Shares to them with the view to restoring the Free Float. The Company aims to complete this exercise by 2 October 2013, which is three months from the date of the Announcement.

    In the meantime, Shareholders are advised to exercise caution in trading their Shares. The Company will make further announcements on this when appropriate.
